FAMILY TIME
A safe place to invite believing and unbelieving friends to experience the Christian community.
FOOD. FUN. FRIENDS
MODEL FOR EACH FAMILY TIME
In order to have some consistency across all family time we ask that the following be present at each.
1
Welcoming Environment
Imagine a space where you are known and accepted. Ultimately this is where we are fully satisfied, being fully known and accepted through our relationship with our heavenly Father. We can also reflect this in our horizontal relationships. This is the environment to aim for at each Family Time. This type of hospitality takes initiative to pursue a connection with each other, especially a guest who comes with someone or by themselves. The hope would be that a guest would not feel alone and others would spend time getting to know them if you leave the room for an extended period of time.
2
A Meal
There is something special about eating with others. This alone conveys a desire to know someone. Take advantage of a number of easy recipes to feed the Family Time. The hope would be that groups of 3 would take turns paying for and cooking a meal for Family Time. This is a great way to serve those around us.
3
Fun Activity/Get to Know Eachother
Having fun is always a great idea. Have some fun activities you can do at each Family Time. It can be playing cards, building something, google Ice-Breakers, or just hearing about each other’s days. These are things that allow you to get to know each other better. (Happies and Crappies, Roses and Thorns, Goods and Bads) of the week
4
Prayer
Yes, this is a safe place for non-believers but helping everyone see that prayer is talking with our heavenly Father. This could look like: praying and giving thanks for the meal, someone thanking the Lord for the time, or praying one on one as you connect with others and hear about their lives. If something comes up in Family Time you can pray.
5
Who We Are
Be sure to share who we are as Cru and why we exist. And more importantly why we are doing Family Time. “A great opportunity to connect with other students and build meaningful relationships.”
